“Oh… God,” she said brokenly, a feeling of absolute joy welling in her heart that she had never felt there before. It was as if the happiness was filling her up from the inside out, ready to explode out of her at any moment, and she shook her head, the tears quivering on the edge of falling.
This was the place that she had been born in, and it looked so… perfect. This was a gift beyond comparison; a gift that she did not understand the motive for his giving, but she knew that she had to express her appreciation for his kindness, no matter what it was based on.
“Starscream… thank you.” He remained silent, but she knew that he had registered her gratitude. “But… why?” she whispered, shaking her head. “You… you don’t even like me.”
Starscream did not reply for a long, long time. Then he murmured, “But I do like you, Alexis Paxton. I do.”
